In collaboration with artist Stefano Faoro performance "Animal Trials" - a project that brings about the practice of the animal trials through story-telling, singing, video and objects. In legal history, an animal trial was the criminal trial of a non-human animal. Such trials are recorded as having taken place in Europe from the thirteenth century until the eighteenth. In modern times, it is considered in most criminal justice systems that non-human creatures lack moral agency and so cannot be held culpable for an act. Meldere and Faoro are bringing this practice to the forth to enquire once more the questions of the animal and human relationship, bringing in the discussion the materials from the (art) history, pop-culture, as well as their investigations in the actual animal, and therefore also human, enclosures and logistics such as zoos, fun parks, institutions.
